Walmeri Ribeiro is an artist-researcher and associate professor at Federal Fluminense University (Niterói| Brazil). Having a background in Performance and Media Art studies, her research interest is on the relationship among Performance, Media Art, and, Environmental issues. FAPERJ’s Research Fellow, she developed her Pos-doc research at Concordia University (Montreal|Canadá), and her PhD at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC|SP). Based in Rio de Janeiro|Brazil, she is also a professor of the Pós-Graduated Program in Contemporary Arts of Federal Fluminense University (PPGCA| UFF) and the Pós-Graduated Program in Visual Arts of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (PPGVA|EBA|UFRJ). She coordinates the Laboratory research of Performance, Media Arts, and Environmental issues - BrisaLAB (UFF|UFRJ|CNPQ). She is a coordinator of the Sensitive Territories platform.
Author of the book “Poéticas do Ator no Cinema Contemporâneo” (Intermeios, 2014), and co-author of the books “Arte e seus territórios Sensiveis” (Intermeios, 2014), “Arte e seus percursos Sensiveis” (Intermeios, 2016), “Arte: Novos modos de viver|habitar” (intermeios, 2019), Sensitive Territories|Guanabara Bay (Circuito, 2020) and “Territórios Sensiveis: Práticas artísticas no Antropoceno” (Circuito, 2023). She has written papers that are published in academic journals and collections and participated in congresses, seminars, and Art exhibitions in Brazil and abroad. Her activities have been commissioned by Brazilian federal agencies, International agencies, and prizes for research and art production.
